The Tigers’ first doubles team of Patricia Kuster and Molly Schatzel rallied to defeat Washingtonville’s top duo of Colleen Garwood and Alyssa Jin. They lost the first set 7-6 on a 7-3 tie breaker, evened the match by taking the second set 6-3, then won a super tiebreaker 10-7.

Kingston’s wild-card team of Sally Marie Ryan and Vyda VanDenberg cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Washingtonville’s wild-card tandem of Julia McNelly and Ruth Gannon.

Both, however, lost in the next round. Warwick’s wild-card team of Jackie Grundfast and Ava Ghobadian overpowered Kuster and Schatzel, 6-1, 6-1, while Newburgh Free Academy’s Isabelle Goings-Perrot and Riddhi Patel defeated Ryan and VanDenberg, 6-1, 6-3.

The Kingston teams needed to win those matches to qualify for next week’s Section 9 tournament.
