Un­de­feated Sauger­ties cap­tures Mum Bowl

Un­de­feated Sauger­ties High gained 509 yards en route to de­feat­ing Red Hook, 39-6, in Satur­day's Mum Bowl.

SAUGER­TIES >> Un­beaten Sauger­ties High amassed 509 yards of of­fense Satur­day, rolling to a 39-6 vic­tory over Red Hook in the Mum/River Bowl.

The Sawyers are now 6-0, the most wins they’ve had since go­ing 6-4 in 2009.

Jimmy Ball ran for 143 yards and two touch­downs and Rob Trin­cellito also rushed for two TDs to lead Sauger­ties, which to­taled 19 first downs.

Quar­ter­back Matt Bucci also had a big game for the Sawyers, rush­ing for over 100 yards and pass­ing for 80, in­clud­ing a 56-yard TD strike to Zach Hartrum.

Sauger­ties dom­i­nated in all as­pects. The de­fense reg­is­terd three sacks and also in­ter­cepted Red Hook quar­ter­back Nick Mor­ris­sey twice. Rory Co­han played well in the sec­ondary. The Sawyers also shined on spe­cial teams, in­clud­ing block­ing a punt deep in Raider ter­ri­tory.

Tris­ten Schi­afo rushed for 174 yards for (4-2) Red Hook, in­clud­ing 32-yard touch­down run.

Both teams are home next Satur­day. Sauger­ties plays host to Pough­keep­sie in a Sec­tion 9, Class A game. Red Hook re­groups to take on New Paltz in a piv­otal game that has the Class B Di­vi­sion I ti­tle on the line. Mon­ti­cello 21, Wal­lkill 20

Mon­ti­cello won the Bat­tle of the Pan­thers, hold­ing off Wal­lkill.

Khadeem Richards car­ried the ball 25 times for 270 yards and three touch­downs to lead Mon­ti­cello to its first win of the year. It lead the Class A game 14-12 at half­time.

Mon­ti­cello is now 1-4 in Class A and 1-5 over­all. Wal­lkill is now 1-3 in A and 2-4 over­all.

Wal­lkill is home Fri­day night to face (4-2) Corn­wall, which beat Goshen 56-7 Satur­day.
