News feed ‘Farm to School’ work­shop at FDR site

HYDE PARK >> Miriam Latzer of Cler­mont’s Good Fla­vor Farm will present the ben­e­fits of com­mu­ni­ty­sup­ported agri­cul­ture at a “Farm to School” work­shop at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15 in the Wal­lace Vis­i­tor & Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­ter on the grounds of the FDR Home and Pres­i­den­tial Li­brary & Mu­seum on U.S. Route 9.

Af­ter the work­shop, par­tic­i­pants may join Na­tional Park Ser­vice ed­u­ca­tor Kayla Alt­land and hor­ti­cul­tur­ist Anna deCor­dova for a tour of the Roo­sevelt home gar­den. The gar­den was paved over in the 1950s and is be­ing re­de­vel­oped as part of the Na­tional Park Ser­vice cen­ten­nial cel­e­bra­tion. Alt­land and deCor­dova are de­vel­op­ing ed­u­ca­tion pro­grams for the home gar­den.

The work­shop and tour are free, but reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired. The pro­gram is open to the pub­lic.
