Catskill man charged with drunken driving after crash
SAUGERTIES >> A Greene County man has been charged with drunk driving after losing control of his car on state Route 32 and striking a utility pole and speed limit sign, police said Monday.
Eban C. Brown, 30, of Route 32, Catskill, was arrested by Saugerties police at 9:26 p.m. Saturday on Route 32 between Mayfield Estates and Vinnie’s Farm Market in the town and charged with misdemeanor drunken driving and with failing to keep right, a violation, police said.
Brown was arrested after police investigating a 911 call reporting a car-vs.pole accident found him conscious and alert in his vehicle, they said.
Brown was southbound on Route 32 when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the left side of the road and into the pole and speed limit sign, both of which were split in half by the impact, police said.
Brown was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, police said.
Brown, who complained of multiple injuries, was treated at the scene by paramedics from Diaz Ambulance and taken to the HealthAlliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus in Kingston for further treatment, police said.
He was released with a ticket to appear in Saugerties Town Court on Oct. 19.
