Catskill man charged with drunken driv­ing af­ter crash

SAUGER­TIES >> A Greene County man has been charged with drunk driv­ing af­ter los­ing con­trol of his car on state Route 32 and strik­ing a util­ity pole and speed limit sign, po­lice said Mon­day.

Eban C. Brown, 30, of Route 32, Catskill, was ar­rested by Sauger­ties po­lice at 9:26 p.m. Satur­day on Route 32 be­tween May­field Es­tates and Vin­nie’s Farm Mar­ket in the town and charged with mis­de­meanor drunken driv­ing and with fail­ing to keep right, a vi­o­la­tion, po­lice said.

Brown was ar­rested af­ter po­lice in­ves­ti­gat­ing a 911 call re­port­ing a car-vs.pole ac­ci­dent found him con­scious and alert in his ve­hi­cle, they said.

Brown was south­bound on Route 32 when he failed to ne­go­ti­ate a curve and drove off the left side of the road and into the pole and speed limit sign, both of which were split in half by the im­pact, po­lice said.

Brown was found to be driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol and had an open con­tainer of al­co­hol in his ve­hi­cle, po­lice said.

Brown, who com­plained of mul­ti­ple in­juries, was treated at the scene by paramedics from Diaz Am­bu­lance and taken to the HealthAl­liance Hos­pi­tal’s Broad­way Cam­pus in Kingston for fur­ther treat­ment, po­lice said.

He was re­leased with a ticket to ap­pear in Sauger­ties Town Court on Oct. 19.
