At 5:03 p.m., a 2010 Nissan driven by Lisa Alviera, 52, of Red Hook, was eastbound on Route 28 when Alviera “made an unsafe lane change” and struck a 2006 Ford driven by Elizabeth Pollock, 40, of Rhinebeck, according to authorities. Both cars overturned, according to state police Sgt. Richard Brunner.
The drivers were taken to the HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus for treatment of minor cuts, Brunner said. Two passengers in Pollock’s vehicle were uninjured, he said.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt, Brunner said, adding, “the result was much better than it could have been.”
Traffic was backed up for some time, but Brunner said he did not know for how long.
