Vassar Haiti Project seeks donations

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - COMMUNITY -

POUGHKEEPSIE >> With Hurricane Matthew casting widespread destruction in Haiti, the Vassar Haiti Project has received news from Père André Wildaine, the group’s contact in the northwest region of that country, of many families in the mountains who lost their entire livelihood, with crops and farm animals were washed away in the storm.

The group’s colleagues at Partners in Health fear the health implications may prove even more costly, as water-borne illnesses such as cholera are likely to come storming back.

The Vassar Haiti Project will be supplying its partners in Haiti with funds to help provide food in the short term and to provide funds to stock their clinic with supplies and medications, as well to help replace lost crops and livestock. The group’s 15 years of experience in Haiti ensures that donations will go to people in need.

To donate, send a check to Vassar Haiti Project, 124 Raymond Avenue, Box 594, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12604.
