Rose’s name added to firefighter memorial
ALBANY >> The name of Mount Marion Fire Department Capt. Jack Rose has been added to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Empire State Plaza.
Rose was one of eight names added to the memorial, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and other state officials recognized the contributions of the eight individuals during the 19th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony as part of Firefighter Appreciation Day.
With the addition of these eight names, the Fallen Firefighters Memorial now honors 2,406 individuals who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Rose, 19, died shortly after fighting a chimney fire in a house on Fel Qui Road in the Centerville area of Saugerties. The Dec. 19, 2015, fire began in the home’s south wall and involved a heating system and wood stove on that wall. The fire was ruled accidental.
