Rose’s name added to fire­fighter me­mo­rial

AL­BANY >> The name of Mount Mar­ion Fire Depart­ment Capt. Jack Rose has been added to the New York State Fallen Fire­fight­ers Me­mo­rial at the Em­pire State Plaza.

Rose was one of eight names added to the me­mo­rial, Gov. An­drew Cuomo an­nounced Tues­day. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and other state of­fi­cials rec­og­nized the con­tri­bu­tions of the eight in­di­vid­u­als dur­ing the 19th An­nual Fallen Fire­fight­ers Me­mo­rial Cer­e­mony as part of Fire­fighter Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day.

With the ad­di­tion of these eight names, the Fallen Fire­fight­ers Me­mo­rial now hon­ors 2,406 in­di­vid­u­als who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Rose, 19, died shortly after fight­ing a chim­ney fire in a house on Fel Qui Road in the Cen­ter­ville area of Saugerties. The Dec. 19, 2015, fire be­gan in the home’s south wall and in­volved a heat­ing sys­tem and wood stove on that wall. The fire was ruled ac­ci­den­tal.
