Roo­sevelt’s Peters win MHAL in­di­vid­ual crown

Jeff Peters of Roo­sevelt shot a 1-over-par 72 to win the Mid-Hud­son Ath­letic League’s in­di­vid­ual golf cham­pi­onship Thurs­day at the MHAL’s qual­i­fy­ing tour­na­ment for next May’s Sec­tion 9 tour­ney. Peters won the event at Ap­ple Greens by one stroke over Spack­enkill’s Erik Stau­d­er­man and three over On­te­ora’s Justin Lane.

The top 20 plus ties qual­i­fied for the Sec­tion 9 tour­na­ment. In all 21 play­ers made the cut at 91.

Eleven MHAL schools will be rep­re­sented in sec­tion­als.

Also qual­i­fy­ing were Red Hook’s Austin Lun­st­edt; Travis Horn­beck, Jef­frey Shaver and Branch Cran­field of Ron­d­out Valley; Will Conti and Charles Ben­fer of Marl­boro; On­te­ora’s Ori Grady; Kyle Do­er­ing of Wal­lkill; Nick Puleo and Jax­son Koebel-Secky of New Paltz; Sauger­ties’ Kieran Defino; Ryan Ack­ert, Zachary Cioffi and Ryan Lo of Spack­enkill; Mill­brook’s Tyler Schaad, Mitchell Wiemer and Pat Kyle;

plus We­bu­tuck’s Ah­matik Jones.
