16U Fillies unbeaten in 18U Home Run Challenge

The Kingston American Legion Post 150 16U Ulster Fillies were undefeated in the 18U bracket at the Home Run College Showcase to improve to 12-1 on the fall.

In the rain-abbreviated tournament, the Fillies went 3-0, opening the day with a 7-0 win over the Hazen’s Blue 18U of Syracuse.

Megan Peace threw four innings of one-hit ball to take the win before Tori Decker had two strikeouts in one inning of relief.

Shannon Bonewit’s tworun homer in the first inning jump-started an offense that was led by Alyssa Finno (double, single, RBI) and Jess Chilcott (single, two RBI). Kailey Collins and Ashley DeKraai each drove in a run.

Decker struck out six in a 6-0 shutout of the Long Island Bandits 18U in Game 2. Finno had a double and two RBI. Alex Mckearin had two singles and an RBI, while Shannon and Sydney Bonewit each added an RBI.

Shannon Bonewit had three strikeouts while allowing two hits in 4.2 innings as the Fillies beat the Upstate Lightning 18U of Rochester 6-1 in Game 3. Finno homered, singled and knocked in two RBI in the win, while De Kraaai (double, two RBI), Chilcott (single, RBI) and Sydney Bonewit (single, RBI) rounded out the Fillies offense.
