Pine Bush man charged in rob­bery at­tempt

A Pine Bush man faces a felony charge of at­tempted rob­bery af­ter po­lice said he tried to rob the Bor­der­line Deli at 1218 Burling­ham Road Satur­day morn­ing.

State Po­lice at Wawars­ing said Thomas J. Mann, 31, of Pine Bush, en­tered the deli around 9:40 a.m., told the clerk he had a gun in his pocket, and de­manded cash from the deli’s reg­is­ter.

When the clerk ver­bally con­fronted him, he fled the store in a gray Toy­ota Corolla, au­thor­i­ties said. Later that day, a trooper on pa­trol on U.S. Route 209 spot­ted the car, pulled it over, took Mann into cus­tody and charged him, po­lice said.

Af­ter troop­ers took man Mann to the state po­lice bar­racks in Wawars­ing, au­thor­i­ties said, he in­ten­tion­ally dam­aged a wall and he was sub­se­quently charged with crim­i­nal mis­chief, a mis­de­meanor.

Mann was ar­raigned in Wawars­ing Town Court and sent to the Ul­ster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. He’s sched­uled to ap­pear in Shawan­gunk Town Court on Mon­day.
