Charles E. Werner, 94, of Port Ewen, passed peace­fully at the home of his dear com­pan­ion, Mickey R. Cooper, on Fri­day, Oct. 14, 2016, in Till­son.

He was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Kingston, the son of the late Charles and Maria Ahrens Werner.

He was pre­de­ceased by his wife of 53 years, Frances Gualtieri Werner.

Charles was a grad­u­ate of Kingston High School; he then en­listed in the U.S. Navy and served for four years on the de­stroyer CK Bron­son in the Pa­cific The­ater of Oper­a­tions dur­ing World War II. He was a life­long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. For 38 years, Charles worked for IBM-Kingston as a de­signer.

Charles is sur­vived by his com­pan­ion, Mickey R. Cooper of Till­son; a son, Alan C. Werner and his wife, Su­san L. Werner of Collinsville, Ok­la­homa; a brother, War­ren Werner of Hur­ley; and a sis­ter, Au­drey Vi­tar­ius of Boze­man, Mon­tana; and many nieces and neph­ews.

The ser­vice will be held at the Wiltwyck Ceme­tery Mau­soleum on Tues­day at 10 a.m., with en­tomb­ment fol­low­ing the ser­vice.

The fam­ily sug­gests, in lieu of flow­ers, a con­tri­bu­tion to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Liv­ingston St., Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
