Charles E. Werner, 94, of Port Ewen, passed peacefully at the home of his dear companion, Mickey R. Cooper, on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Tillson.
He was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Kingston, the son of the late Charles and Maria Ahrens Werner.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Frances Gualtieri Werner.
Charles was a graduate of Kingston High School; he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years on the destroyer CK Bronson in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. For 38 years, Charles worked for IBM-Kingston as a designer.
Charles is survived by his companion, Mickey R. Cooper of Tillson; a son, Alan C. Werner and his wife, Susan L. Werner of Collinsville, Oklahoma; a brother, Warren Werner of Hurley; and a sister, Audrey Vitarius of Bozeman, Montana; and many nieces and nephews.
The service will be held at the Wiltwyck Cemetery Mausoleum on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with entombment following the service.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, a contribution to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston St., Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
