Conference focuses on climate change
Registration is now open for the Catskill Environmental Research and Monitoring Conference Oct. 27-28 at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, state Route 28.
The conference is mainly for researchers, students, and resource managers in the Catskills, but anyone who would like to contribute or learn more about the region is welcome to attend. Speakers will present tools and models that help us understand and adapt to climate change.
The keynote speaker will be Joshua Ginsberg, president of the Cary Institute for Ecosystem Studies, who will track the effects of the creation of the Catskill State Forest Preserve and “forever wild” designation on the region. Other presentations will cover research supporting development of forest pest policy and watershed and water quality management.
