Con­fer­ence fo­cuses on cli­mate change

Reg­is­tra­tion is now open for the Catskill En­vi­ron­men­tal Re­search and Mon­i­tor­ing Con­fer­ence Oct. 27-28 at Bel­leayre Moun­tain Ski Cen­ter, state Route 28.

The con­fer­ence is mainly for re­searchers, stu­dents, and re­source man­agers in the Catskills, but any­one who would like to con­trib­ute or learn more about the re­gion is wel­come to at­tend. Speak­ers will present tools and mod­els that help us un­der­stand and adapt to cli­mate change.

The key­note speaker will be Joshua Gins­berg, pres­i­dent of the Cary In­sti­tute for Ecosys­tem Stud­ies, who will track the ef­fects of the cre­ation of the Catskill State For­est Pre­serve and “for­ever wild” des­ig­na­tion on the re­gion. Other pre­sen­ta­tions will cover re­search sup­port­ing de­vel­op­ment of for­est pest pol­icy and wa­ter­shed and wa­ter qual­ity man­age­ment.
