Home sales in­crease; prices fall slightly

KINGSTON >> The num­ber of sin­gle-fam­ily homes sold in Ul­ster County in the first nine months of 2016 rose sig­nif­i­cantly over the same pe­riod last year.

The Ul­ster County Board of Real­tors/Hud­son Val­ley Catskill Re­gion Mul­ti­ple List­ing Ser­vice re­ported 1,154 homes sold from Jan­uary to Septem­ber, com­pared with 1,012 dur­ing the first nine months of 2015, a 14 per­cent in­crease.

The av­er­age sell­ing price de­clined slightly, from $236,642 in the first three quar­ters of last year to $235,217 this year.

Homes re­mained on the mar­ket for an av­er­age of 137 days in the first nine months of 2016, com­pared to last year’s av­er­age of 151.

Septem­ber home sales dipped slightly this year, with 139 sold, com­pared to 142 last year. The av­er­age sell­ing price rose to $259,253 from $234,069 in the same month in 2015.
