Home sales increase; prices fall slightly
KINGSTON >> The number of single-family homes sold in Ulster County in the first nine months of 2016 rose significantly over the same period last year.
The Ulster County Board of Realtors/Hudson Valley Catskill Region Multiple Listing Service reported 1,154 homes sold from January to September, compared with 1,012 during the first nine months of 2015, a 14 percent increase.
The average selling price declined slightly, from $236,642 in the first three quarters of last year to $235,217 this year.
Homes remained on the market for an average of 137 days in the first nine months of 2016, compared to last year’s average of 151.
September home sales dipped slightly this year, with 139 sold, compared to 142 last year. The average selling price rose to $259,253 from $234,069 in the same month in 2015.
