Wilhelmina Millie Hoppe, 82, of Glenford
GLENFORD >> Wilhelmina Millie Hoppe, 82, of Glenford, passed peacefully Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at her residence, after a brief illness.
She was born April 9, 1934, in Queens, the daughter of the late Eric and Kate Hefkin Hoppe.
Millie was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1951, and SUNY Ulster, earning her associate’s degree as a registered nurse. For 24 years, Millie was an Oncology nurse at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston.
She was a member of the Coach House Players, appearing in many shows. Millie sang in the in the Damenchor and enjoyed ballet, often doing volunteer work for the Ulster County Ballet. With her husband, she often traveled to ballets and operas in New York City and Saratoga. She had a natural way with animals, enjoyed traveling and was fluent in several languages.
She is survived her husband, William E. “Bill” Hoppe, whom she wed on April 10, 1998; her son, Walter Hoppe of New Paltz; and four stepsons, Edward, Marshall, William and Jack Hoppe.
She was predeceased by a sister, Greta Hausenflu.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. The family will receive their friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The service will be at 7 p.m.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Benedictine Health Foundation, 105 Mary’s Avenue, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
