Rochester, Wawarsing seek input on plans
ELLENVILLE >> The towns of Rochester and Wawarsing will hold public hearings this week on a plan to develop a shared set of natural heritage and open space plans.
Building on recently completed natural resource and open space inventories for each town, the project will identify and design actions that the towns can take to protect and improve key ecological, water, agricultural, historical, scenic, recreational and cultural resources, systems and places.
The 90-minute public meetings will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Ellenville Government Center, 2 Elting Court, Ellenville, and at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Rochester Town Hall, 50 Scenic Road, Accord.
Attendees can learn about the project and share what places and features they feel that the two towns should protect for future generations. For information, visit tinyurl.com/TOWTOR-NHOSP.
