Volunteers are needed to help restore lean-to
SHADY >> The Catskill Conservation Corps is seeking volunteers to help rehabilitate the Echo Lake Leanto Oct. 21 to 23.
Work will include installing a new roof, a new privy and straightening the lean-to in the Indian Head Wilderness. The crew will meet each morning at the Meade’s Mountain trailhead. Volunteers should wear hiking boots, dress appropriately for outdoor conditions and activities, pack plenty of water to stay hydrated and bring work gloves and a bag lunch. No experience is necessary; tools and training will be provided. Participants should expect to hike and carry tools three miles to the work site and will have the option to camp, as the project will take place over the course of three days..
The Trail Conference’s Catskill’s Trail Crew is working to repair and replace lean-tos in the Catskill Forest Preserve. For information, visit https://CatskillConservationCorps.org.
