Vol­un­teers are needed to help re­store lean-to

SHADY >> The Catskill Con­ser­va­tion Corps is seek­ing vol­un­teers to help re­ha­bil­i­tate the Echo Lake Leanto Oct. 21 to 23.

Work will in­clude in­stalling a new roof, a new privy and straight­en­ing the lean-to in the In­dian Head Wilder­ness. The crew will meet each morn­ing at the Meade’s Moun­tain trail­head. Vol­un­teers should wear hik­ing boots, dress ap­pro­pri­ately for out­door con­di­tions and ac­tiv­i­ties, pack plenty of wa­ter to stay hy­drated and bring work gloves and a bag lunch. No ex­pe­ri­ence is nec­es­sary; tools and train­ing will be pro­vided. Par­tic­i­pants should ex­pect to hike and carry tools three miles to the work site and will have the op­tion to camp, as the project will take place over the course of three days..
