$15K reward offered in probe of Gap fire
Gap Inc. and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the massive fire Aug. 29 and 30 at Gap’s Northeast Distribution Center on Merritt Boulevard in Fishkill.
ATF is offering up to $7,500, and the clothing retailer is matching that amount.
The investigation into the fire concluded it was arson.
Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is asked to call 888-ATF-FIRE (283-3473), email ATFTips@atf.gov or contact the bureau through the website www.atf.gov/contact/atf-tips.
All tips will remain confidential.
The fire in Building 2 at the Gap site broke out late on Aug. 29 and burned past sunrise on Aug. 30. No one was injured.
The building that was damaged measures 990,000 square feet. It was used for distribution of online orders.
The inside of the warehouse bears the scars of the Aug. 29 fire.
