John J. ‘Jack’ Rod­den, 91, of Eso­pus

John J. “Jack” Rod­den, 91, of Main St., Eso­pus, died Tues­day, Oct. 18, 2016, at the home of his son and daugh­ter-in-law.

Born in Kingston, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Wem­mer) Rod­den.

Jack was a vet­eran of the U.S. Army, hav­ing served dur­ing World War II. He was em­ployed by IBM Fishkill for 22 years. He had pre­vi­ously worked as a tug­boat en­gi­neer for 20 years. Jack was a for­mer mem­ber of the Kingston BPOE Elks 550. In his younger years he was a stock car me­chanic.

Sur­viv­ing are his chil­dren, Paul W. Rod­den and his wife Maria, San­dra Reese, and her hus­band, Randy, and Christo­pher Rod­den, and his wife Linda; grand­chil­dren, Brian Reese and his wife Monique, Jen­nifer Tom­lin­son and her hus­band Tris­tan, Ja­nis Rod­den, Re­becca Kas­s­apian and her hus­band, Bran­don; and his great-grand­chil­dren, Brevin Reese and Lila Tom­lin­son.

Jack’s wife, Janet Rose Rod­den, died July 11, 2015.

Fu­neral ar­range­ments are un­der the guid­ance of Joseph V. Leahy Fu­neral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y., 12401. Friends will be re­ceived at the fu­neral home on Fri­day evening 7 to 9 p.m. A fu­neral ser­vice will be held Satur­day at 11 a.m. at the fu­neral home. Rev. Dar­lene Kel­ley of­fi­ci­at­ing. Cre­ma­tion will be held at the Wiltwyck Cre­ma­tory.

Ex­pres­sions of sym­pa­thy may be made in lieu of flow­ers to Hos­pice of the Hud­son Val­ley, 400 Aaron Ct., Kingston, N.Y., 12401.
