John J. ‘Jack’ Rodden, 91, of Esopus
John J. “Jack” Rodden, 91, of Main St., Esopus, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law.
Born in Kingston, N.Y., on Aug. 25, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Wemmer) Rodden.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was employed by IBM Fishkill for 22 years. He had previously worked as a tugboat engineer for 20 years. Jack was a former member of the Kingston BPOE Elks 550. In his younger years he was a stock car mechanic.
Surviving are his children, Paul W. Rodden and his wife Maria, Sandra Reese, and her husband, Randy, and Christopher Rodden, and his wife Linda; grandchildren, Brian Reese and his wife Monique, Jennifer Tomlinson and her husband Tristan, Janis Rodden, Rebecca Kassapian and her husband, Brandon; and his great-grandchildren, Brevin Reese and Lila Tomlinson.
Jack’s wife, Janet Rose Rodden, died July 11, 2015.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y., 12401. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Darlene Kelley officiating. Cremation will be held at the Wiltwyck Crematory.
