The Dutchess County SPCA will celebrate its 145th anniversary on Oct. 28 with an “Animal Kingdom Ball” at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie.

The third oldest animal welfare organization in the country, the Dutchess County SPCA has helped rescue more than 50,000 animals and has worked to provide them with homes for the past 145 years.

The ball, which will run from 7 to 10 p.m., will serve as the Dutchess County SPCA’s primary fundraising event of the year, according to Executive Director Donna Angiolillo.

Along with dancing and a photo booth, guests will be treated to a virtual historical presentation showing the Dutchess County SPCA from its inception in 1871 through to the development of the organization’s new state-of-theart Adoption & Education Center on Route 9G in Hyde Park.
