Presentation focuses on lead poisoning

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - COMMUNITY -

A free presentation on the health hazards of lead poisoning and ways that nutrition can help is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 26 at the ShopRite grocery store on Miron Lane.

The event is sponsored by Ulster County Executive Michael Hein, the Ulster County Department of Health’s Child Lead Poisoning Primary Prevention Program and ShopRite.

A 20-minute PowerPoint presentation at the Oct. 26 event will demonstrate the harmful health effects lead can have on young children and pregnant women, how to prevent lead poisoning, and how to reduce lead absorption in your body. Participants will be given a guided tour of the grocery story and go home with a free bag of healthy foods.

Advance registration is required for the Oct. 26 event. Call Donna Greenfield at (845) 340-3047 or ShopRite dietician Melissa Sakellariou at (845) 3329920.
