Rhinebeck Wallkill play for MHAL title
It will be Rhinebeck versus Wallkill High for the MidHudson Athletic League boys soccer championship Thursday after both teams scored tough semifinal victories Tuesday.
Rhinebeck knocked off defending champion Spackenkill, 1-0, while Wallkill edged Red Hook, 4-3, in a shootout after playing to a 0-0 tie. The teams play for the title 7 p.m. Thursday at Roosevelt.
Rhinebeck last won the championship in 2012. Wallkill claimed it the next year, defeating the Hawks, 2-1.
Quinn Graziano broke up a scoreless battle when he scored off a Joe Boland assist with 4:40 left in regulation.
Ethan Viator had four saves in goal to record the shutout for Rhinebeck in a match where scoring opportunities where few and far between. Spackenkill goalkeeper Quinn McGinnis had three saves.
