16U Fil­lies reach tour­ney quar­ter­fi­nals

The Kingston Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 150 16-an­dun­der Ul­ster Fil­lies went 3-2 to make the quar­ter­fi­nals at the New­town Rock Gold 18U In­vi­ta­tional Tour­na­ment and im­prove to 15-3 this fall.

The Fil­lies fell to the Spooky Nook Gold 18U, 8-0, in the quar­ter­fi­nals.

Alyssa Finno and Shan­non Bonewit each had two sin­gles in the loss.

Tori Decker threw a com­plete game in a 6-5 Fil­lies’ win in Sun­day’s opener over the Delaware Fil­lies 18U.

Finno (HR, 1B, 2 RBI) and Shan­non Bonewit (2B, RBI) led the of­fense, while Alex McKearin and Ash­ley DeKraai each con­trib­uted an RBI sin­gle in the win.

On Satur­day, Decker al­lowed no earned runs in six in­nings of work as the Fil­lies fell to the NJ In­san­ity 18U.

Shanon Bonewit and Claire Fi­lak each had two sin­gles in the loss.

Me­gan Peace threw a com­plete game three­hit­ter in a 9-0 win over the Academa Elite 18U. Jess Chilcott, Finno and Decker each had mul­ti­ple hits in the win. Shan­non Bonewit drove in two runs, while McKearin, Vanessa Brandt and Syd­ney Bonewit each con­trib­uted a run for the Fil­lies.

Brandt’s two-run dou­ble in the last in­ning of Satur­day’s fi­nal game handed the Fil­lies a 4-2 come-from-be­hind win over the Delco Di­a­monds 18 U.

Shan­non Bonewit threw five in­nings for the win. Chilcott (2B, 1B) and Decker (1B, RBI) led the of­fense in the win.
