Wall Street projects that Amer­i­can Air­lines Group’s lat­est quar­terly report card will show a steep drop in profit.

The world’s big­gest air­line has been hurt by lower av­er­age fares, which have de­clined in­dus­try­wide for more than a year. Its earn­ings and rev­enue fell in the first two quar­ters of this year ver­sus a year ear­lier. In­vestors will also be lis­ten­ing for an up­date on fall book­ing trends when Amer­i­can re­ports its third quar­ter earn­ings to­day.
