Sylvia C. Heaton, 80, of Kingston, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Sharon, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Erwin and Lillian Shove Couse. Sylvia worked at IBM for over 30 years, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She later worked for Darmstadt Overhead Doors, and was a member of the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cleaning, baking, cooking, and entertaini­ng, and was open to adventure. Sylvia lived, laughed and loved often.

Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Lisa Heaton of Tillson and Gina Heaton of Kingston; one stepson, Jay Heaton and his wife Stephanie of New Paltz; and two brothers, Erwin (Punky) Couse of Amenia, N.Y., and Robert Lee Couse and his wife Brenda of Pine Plains, N.Y. One grandson, Alijah Molinari, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Sylvia was also survived by her extended family at the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church and the Bowery Dugout. Sylvia will be reposing at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston, on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, from noon to 4 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Senkewich officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in Irondale Cemetery, Millerton, N.Y.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church, 151 W. Main St., Port Ewen, N.Y. 12466.
