SUNY New Paltz rallies for conference victory
A pair of second-half goals gave the SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team a crucial 3-1 victory over SUNY Fredonia in a State University of New York Athletic Conference match Friday to keep it in the thick of the playoff race. With the Blue Devils up 1-0 in the 42nd minute, Aleco Podrias kicked in the equalizer, his fourth goal in his last two appearances against (106-1, 4-4-0) Fredonia.
The Hawks went ahead in the 58th minute when Sam Spring headed one in off a Ben Zilka header.
Thomas Preece kicked one in off a Charlie Versen assist to give the Hawks a 3-0 Edge.
The Hawks held a 14-8 advantage in shots on goal.
After an early goal, John Guzzo settled down and recorded three saves for (7-3-7, 3-3-2) New Paltz.
