Faso, Teachout dis­cuss cancer is­sues

KINGSTON » John Faso and Ze­phyr Teachout, the can­di­dates in New York’s 19th Con­gres­sional District race, will dis­cuss is­sues re­lated to cancer dur­ing an “Eat and Greet” event on Tues­day from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Ole Sa­van­nah Restau­rant, 100 Ron­d­out Land­ing.

Em­pha­siz­ing the fact that cancer kills 1,630 peo­ple a day in the United States, the Amer­i­can Cancer So­ci­ety Cancer Ac­tion Net­work re­ceived re­sponses to ques­tion­naires from Teachout, a Demo­crat, and Faso, a Repub­li­can, specif­i­cally ask­ing if they will sup­port an in­crease in fed­eral fund­ing for cancer re­search, as well as any ad­di­tional steps they will take to end the dis­ease.

The event will be at­tended by cancer sur­vivors, Cancer Ac­tion Net­work vol­un­teers and mem­bers of the pub­lic.

Faso and Teachout are each seek­ing to re­place U.S. Rep. Chris Gib­son, R-Kin­der­hook, who has cho­sen not to seek re-elec­tion.
