Faso, Teachout discuss cancer issues
KINGSTON » John Faso and Zephyr Teachout, the candidates in New York’s 19th Congressional District race, will discuss issues related to cancer during an “Eat and Greet” event on Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Ole Savannah Restaurant, 100 Rondout Landing.
Emphasizing the fact that cancer kills 1,630 people a day in the United States, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network received responses to questionnaires from Teachout, a Democrat, and Faso, a Republican, specifically asking if they will support an increase in federal funding for cancer research, as well as any additional steps they will take to end the disease.
The event will be attended by cancer survivors, Cancer Action Network volunteers and members of the public.
Faso and Teachout are each seeking to replace U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, who has chosen not to seek re-election.
