The Catskill Conservations Corps will rehabilitate the Echo Lake lean-to in the Indian Head Wilderness from Nov. 9 through Nov. 11.

The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, which is seeking volunteers for the project, said volunteers may access the lean-to via the Meade’s Mountain trail head in Shady. The trip is planned mid-week to limit the disruption to campers and hikers.

Volunteers will install a new roof, a new privy and stain the lean-to.

Members of the crew may choose to camp at the lean-to during the project. Volunteers should wear hiking boots, dress appropriately for outdoor conditions, bring work gloves, and pack plenty of water and a bag lunch. The public is invited to participate.
