16U Ul­ster Fil­lies strong in fall sea­son fi­nale

The Kingston American Le­gion Post 150 16U Ul­ster Fil­lies went 4-1 at the re­cent TNT 18U In­vi­ta­tional Fall Col­lege Show­case softball tour­na­ment to fin­ish their fall cam­paign with a 19-4 record.

The Kingston American Le­gion Post 150 16U Ul­ster Fil­lies went 4-1 at the re­cent TNT 18U In­vi­ta­tional Fall Col­lege Show­case softball tour­na­ment to fin­ish their fall cam­paign with a 19-4 record.

The Fil­lies earned vic­to­ries over the NJ Com­mo­tion 18U (6-1); NJ Ka­boom 18U (5-3); Mary­land Heat 18U (6-2) and Ramapo Rage 18U (14-4). Their lone loss came against the Pitts­burgh Pride 18U (1-0).

Against the Com­mo­tion, Shan­non Bonewit tossed a five-hit­ter, al­low­ing an un­earned run, while strik­ing out nine. She helped her­self on of­fense with a pair of hits, in­clud­ing a dou­ble, and two runs scored. Other of­fen­sive con­tri­bu­tions came from Megan Peace (two dou­bles, two RBI), Claire Fi­lak (dou­ble, two RBI), Ash­ley DeKraai (sin­gle, two RBI) and Jess Chilcott (two hits).

Bonewit al­lowed one run against the Ka­boom, while help­ing her­self with a pair of RBI. Chilcott had a dou­ble and a sin­gle, while Alyssa Finno (dou­ble, RBI), DeKraai (sin­gle, RBI) and Alex Mck­earin (sin­gle, RBI) also con­tribut­ing in the win.

Peace scat­tered six hits in Ul­ster’s win over the Heat, with Chilcott (two sin­gles, two RBI) lead­ing the of­fense. DeKraai, Peace and McK­earin each drove in a run in the win.

Tori Decker recorded the win against the Rage, set­tling down af­ter al­low­ing four runs in the first, in the com­plete-game win. Fi­lak broke a 4-4 tie in a Fil­lies’ 8-run third in­ning with a two-out grand slam. Chilcott (two dou­bles, three RBI) had a tworun dou­ble in the frame, while Bonewit added a two-run homer. Other con­tri­bu­tions came from Syd­ney Bonewit (dou­ble, sin­gle, two RBI), Vanessa Brandt (two dou­bles, three runs scored), Finno (dou­ble, sin­gle, RBI), Kai­ley Collins (three runs scored, RBI) and Christie Collins (two runs scored).

Decker yielded an un­earned run over six in­nings in the tough loss to the Pride. Kai­ley Collins and Mck­earin, mean­while, had the only hits for the Fil­lies.
