Health, human rights focus of Nov. 3 lecture
NEW PALTZ » Dr. Holly Atkinson will draw on her extensive background as a health and wellness advocate to examine the question of human rights during a talk Thursday, Nov. 3, at SUNY New Paltz.
Her lecture, “Health and Human Rights,” which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 100, is part of the college’s Distinguished Speaker Series.
As a former president of the non-profit group Physicians for Human Rights, Atkinson understands first-hand the devastating effects of human rights violations on the well-being of individuals and communities. She argues that by protecting and promoting human rights, both at home and abroad, we also protect and promote our own health, the health of our children and that of our planet.
