Learn to set rates for farm­land ren­tals

KINGSTON » The Cor­nell Co­op­er­a­tive Ex­ten­sion of Ul­ster County will ad­dress the chal­lenge to farm­ers and landown­ers in the Hud­son Val­ley of know­ing how to set a ren­tal rate or as­sess a rent of­fer for farm­land at a work­shop from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Ex­ten­sion of­fice at Kingston Plaza, Plaza Road.

The work­shop, led by El­iz­a­beth Hig­gins, ag busi­ness man­age­ment spe­cial­ist for the Eastern New York Com­mer­cial Hor­ti­cul­ture Pro­gram, will cover dif­fer­ent tools and meth­ods for set­ting and eval­u­at­ing farm­land ren­tal rates. This pro­gram is sup­ported by the Lo­cal Economies Project and by the Hud­son Val­ley Farm­link Net­work, which is co­or­di­nated by Amer­i­can Farm­land Trust and has re­ceived pri­mary fund­ing from the Doris Duke Char­i­ta­ble Foun­da­tion.
