PORT CH­ESTER >> Marlboro High’s Emma and Grace Mes­sen­ger were elim­i­nated from the New York State Pub­lic High School Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion girls ten­nis tour­na­ment af­ter a pair of losses.

They won the first set against the sev­enth-seeded duo of Ari­ana Ma­lik and Lau­ren Cherkin of Sec­tion 11’s Half Hol­low Hills East 6-1, but the Suf­folk County champs ral­lied to win 6-0, 6-4.

In the con­so­la­tion draw, the Dukes team lost 8-6 to Court­ney Kessler and Erin Lippa of Sec­tion 6’s Wil­liamsville North.

The Mes­sen­ger sis­ters paired up to win the Mid-Hud­son Ath­letic League cham­pi­onship for a third con­sec­u­tive sea­son as a wild card and this year be­came Marlboro’s first-ever Sec­tion 9 dou­bles cham­pi­ons.
