Program focuses on crimes against children

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - COMMUNITY -

“Protecting Our Children,” a community education and crime prevention presentation, is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, 300 Wall St.

Facilitated by the Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center, the presentation is based on the work of Cory Jewell Jenson, co-director of the Center for Behavioral Intervention, an Oregonbased sex offender program.

Any adult interested in learning how to prevent child sexual abuse should attend, organizers say.

The program incorporates videotaped interviews with convicted sex offenders and graphic discussions of child sex crimes. Teens and children should not attend, organizers say.

There is no cost to attend the presentation, but advance registration is requested.
