Man charged with stealing $4,000 bicycle
ELLENVILLE >> A Bronx man has been charged with stealing a $4,000 bicycle from BD Bikes on Market Street, village police said.
About 2 a.m. Monday, a window at the 6 Market St. bicycle shop was smashed and the bicycle was reported stolen, police said.
About 8 a.m., officers on routine patrol on Church Street saw five men loading an item fitting the description of the stolen bicycle into the trunk of a car, police said. All five were taken into custody and interviewed. John Franklin Crawford II, 22, of 1040 Gerard Ave., was charged with the felonies of burglary, criminal mischief and possession of stolen property, police said.
Village Police Chief Philip Mattracion said the other four men were interviewed and were released without charges.
Crawford was arraigned in Ellenville Village Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
