Man charged with steal­ing $4,000 bi­cy­cle

ELLENVILLE >> A Bronx man has been charged with steal­ing a $4,000 bi­cy­cle from BD Bikes on Mar­ket Street, vil­lage po­lice said.

About 2 a.m. Mon­day, a win­dow at the 6 Mar­ket St. bi­cy­cle shop was smashed and the bi­cy­cle was re­ported stolen, po­lice said.

About 8 a.m., of­fi­cers on rou­tine pa­trol on Church Street saw five men load­ing an item fit­ting the de­scrip­tion of the stolen bi­cy­cle into the trunk of a car, po­lice said. All five were taken into cus­tody and in­ter­viewed. John Franklin Craw­ford II, 22, of 1040 Ger­ard Ave., was charged with the felonies of bur­glary, crim­i­nal mis­chief and pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty, po­lice said.

Vil­lage Po­lice Chief Philip Mat­tra­cion said the other four men were in­ter­viewed and were re­leased with­out charges.

Craw­ford was ar­raigned in Ellenville Vil­lage Court and sent to the Ul­ster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
