Hudson River fishing industry focus of lecture
WHAT: Lecture WHEN: Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. WHERE: Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway, Port Ewen DETAILS: The Klyne Esopus Museum is presenting a lecture by Vernon Benjamin. It is titled “The Last of the Seine Fisherman.” Trough the eyes of a Hudson Valley fisherman and his family, Benjamin will examine what happened to the commercial fishing industry on the Hudson River and how waterfront communities have adapted to economic changes. He will go on to discuss his most recent book, History of the Hudson Valley: From the Civil War to Modern Times. In addition to being an author, Benjamin is a journalist and college teacher. Admission is free.
