Deputies nab one of two sus­pects sought in drug sweep

One of two men sought in an Oct. 13 drug sweep in the Kingston area has been ar­rested and turned over to fed­eral au­thor­i­ties, mem­bers of the Ul­ster Re­gion Drug en­force­ment Nar­cotics Team (UR­GENT) said Wed­nes­day.

Mau­rice Wood, 31, of Kingston, was found Fri­day af­ter­noon at a res­i­dence on Lu­cas Av­enue in Rosendale by mem­bers of UR­GENT, Ul­ster County Sher­iff’s de­tec­tive and a sher­iff’s dog unit, au­thor­i­ties said. Wood, along with Lashawn J. Brick­house, 28, of Kingston, who re­mains at large, has been charged by an in­dict­ment in U.S. Dis­trict Court, North­ern Dis­trict of New York, with con­spir­acy to dis­trib­ute heroin and pos­ses­sion of heroin, as well as pos­ses­sion and sale of a firearm by a felon.

Wood was taken into cus­tody and held in the Ul­ster County Jail un­til Mon­day morn­ing, when he was taken to Al­bany and turned over to the U.S. Mar­shals Ser­vice for ar­raign­ment in U.S. Dis­trict Court.
