Deputies nab one of two suspects sought in drug sweep
One of two men sought in an Oct. 13 drug sweep in the Kingston area has been arrested and turned over to federal authorities, members of the Ulster Region Drug enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) said Wednesday.
Maurice Wood, 31, of Kingston, was found Friday afternoon at a residence on Lucas Avenue in Rosendale by members of URGENT, Ulster County Sheriff’s detective and a sheriff’s dog unit, authorities said. Wood, along with Lashawn J. Brickhouse, 28, of Kingston, who remains at large, has been charged by an indictment in U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York, with conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession of heroin, as well as possession and sale of a firearm by a felon.
Wood was taken into custody and held in the Ulster County Jail until Monday morning, when he was taken to Albany and turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service for arraignment in U.S. District Court.
Authorities urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brickhouse to call the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office at (845) 3383640 or email urgenttask-
