FDR’s mother subject of talk on Nov. 17
WHAT: Talk, “Defending Sara Roosevelt”
WHEN: Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

DETAILS: In recent years, Sara Roosevelt, the mother of Franklin D. Roosevelt, has received a bad reputation, yet she was one of the greatest mothers and most influential women of the 20th century. She has been referred to as the “mother-in-law from hell” and has been used as a typical villain in every Hollywood interpretation of the Roosevelt family. However, when she was alive she was respected and admired for her charm, wisdom and kindness. Shannon Butler, a National Park Ranger, will deliver the presentation. She is a SUNY New Paltz graduate with a degree in history and recently receiver her master’s degree from the University at Albany.
