Ellen J. Klein­ert, 91, of Sim­mons Street, died Wed­nes­day, Nov. 2, 2016, at the Golden Hill Nurs­ing and Re­hab Cen­ter.

Born Nov. 13, 1924, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the daugh­ter of the late Ralph and Am­ber Motz. An area res­i­dent since 1968, she was a for­mer res­i­dent of Detroit. She was an ac­tive mem­ber of the Sauger­ties Atone­ment Lutheran Church, the Women of the Evan­gel­i­cal Lutheran Church of Amer­ica, the Women’s Club of Sauger­ties, the Merry Mix­ers Craft Club, and vol­un­teered at The Well in Sauger­ties.

Sur­vivors in­clude two sons, Stephen (Linda) and David Klein­ert; four daugh­ters: Ch­eryl High­street, Julie (Tom) Clap­per, Jeanne (Rick) Vick­ery and Lisa (Carl) Re­lyea; daugh­ter-in-law, Michaele Wen­dell; and one sis­ter, Ju­lia Hol­lis. Fif­teen grand­chil­dren, 15 great­grand­chil­dren, and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews also sur­vive.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Richard Klein­ert, in 1982; her son, Michael Klein­ert; son-in­law, Andy High­street; sis­ter, Mary Lou Trump; daugh­ter-in-law, Cathy Klein­ert; and grand­son, Brad­ford Lee.

Her funeral ser­vice will be held at 10 a.m. Mon­day at Atone­ment Lutheran Church, Mar­ket Street, Sauger­ties. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Moun­tain View Ceme­tery. Friends will be re­ceived Sun­day from 2to4and7­to9p.m.at Sea­mon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., cor­ner of John and Lafayette streets. The fam­ily sug­gests do­na­tions in her mem­ory be made to God Given Bread, 100 Mar­ket St., Sauger­ties.
