Event raises do­mes­tic vi­o­lence aware­ness

The Cen­ter for Cre­ative Ed­u­ca­tion is team­ing up with DXFDance Xross Fit­ness from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun­day, Nov. 13, for “Take A Step with DXF,” a do­mes­tic vi­o­lence aware­ness event at the Andy Mur­phy III Mid­town Neigh­bor­hood Cen­ter, 467 Broad­way.

The event was cre­ated to ed­u­cate the com­mu­nity re­gard­ing do­mes­tic vi­o­lence. At­ten­dees can join the DXF-Dance Xross Fit­ness and Zumba group fit­ness in­struc­tors, stretch out with yoga or med­i­tate.

Com­mu­nity re­source rep­re­sen­ta­tives and in­for­ma­tion in a wide ar­ray of ser­vices will also be avail­able. A por­tion of the $10 sug­gested do­na­tion will go to ben­e­fit The Wash­bourne House, a shel­ter where res­i­dents re­ceive a safe place to stay, as well as in­di­vid­ual and group sup­port­coun­sel­ing, case man­age­ment, par­ent­ing and chil­dren’s ser­vices, ad­vo­cacy and ex­ten­sive re­fer­rals.
