Highway boss’ term extended
Voters on Tuesday extended the term of the town’s highway superintendent from two years to four.
The proposition was approved, 1,555-877.
Current Highway Superintendent Brian Stiscia has said the increase would provide stability to a position that requires putting together long-term plans.
“The job is tough enough as it is just to come through the door and do it,” he has said.
Stiscia, who is starting his fourth year as Gardiner highway superintendent, said the position requires a great deal of seasonal planning, especially at the time leading up to elections.
