Last ball from 1986 World Se­ries be­ing sold by Carter family

The ball used for the fi­nal out of the 1986 World Se­ries won by the New York Mets is among the items be­ing put up for auc­tion by the family of late Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter.

Carter was be­hind the plate when Bos­ton’s Marty Bar­rett struck out to end Game 7. The Mets 8-5 at Shea Sta­dium that night for their most re­cent cham­pi­onship.

Carter was elected to the Hall in 2003. He died in 2012 at 57.

A game-worn Mets jersey from 1985 and Carter’s jersey and pants from a 1984 Mon­treal Ex­pos game also are in the on­line sale by Her­itage Auc­tions that closes Nov. 1819.
