Where were women on Election Day?

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - OPINION -

Dear Editor: On Election Night, a woman — I forget who — said on TV, “Where are the women? We could be electing a woman president right now.”

Going through my head is that old Harry Belafonte tune, “That’s right, the women are smarter.”

Our government has needed an enema for a long time. America is ruled by money, fueled by greed, enabled by corruption, scripted by biased and cheerleading media, and manipulated by politicians whose priority is personal power. Their collective disdain for the majority has been clearly shown by their shameful disrespect for the office of the presidency and the man we elected to it.

Fact is, we’ve long since ceased to be a democracy.

Well, it’s looks like we’re about to get that enema.

I’m thinking that the ladies took care of business Tuesday. Smarter? Could be. So bend over, America.

And try to get that tune out of your head.

Bet you can’t. Pete Levin Saugerties
