Teen charged in laundromat burglary
ELLENVILLE >> A Monticello teenager has been arrested in connection with a September burglary at a laundromat in Ellenville, village police said Friday.
John Schultz, 17, of 18 Main St., was charged Thursday with felony burglary and the misdemeanor of criminal mischief, police said.
Police said Schultz was arrested with the help of Monticello police following an investigation into a burglary that occurred at 6:23 p.m. Sept. 24 at the laundromat at 44 N. Main St. (Route 209).
Early in the investigation, police said they had arrested Zachery Matthews, 17, of the Village Hotel, Room 20, Ellenville. Matthews also was charged with felony burglary and the misdemeanor of criminal mischief.
The two men allegedly broke into a locked room and stole about $100 in rolled coins, police said.
Schultz was arraigned in Ellenville Village Court and released on his own recognizance.
