Teen charged in laun­dro­mat bur­glary

ELLENVILLE >> A Mon­ti­cello teenager has been ar­rested in con­nec­tion with a Septem­ber bur­glary at a laun­dro­mat in Ellenville, vil­lage po­lice said Fri­day.

John Schultz, 17, of 18 Main St., was charged Thurs­day with felony bur­glary and the mis­de­meanor of crim­i­nal mis­chief, po­lice said.

Po­lice said Schultz was ar­rested with the help of Mon­ti­cello po­lice fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into a bur­glary that oc­curred at 6:23 p.m. Sept. 24 at the laun­dro­mat at 44 N. Main St. (Route 209).

Early in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, po­lice said they had ar­rested Zach­ery Matthews, 17, of the Vil­lage Ho­tel, Room 20, Ellenville. Matthews also was charged with felony bur­glary and the mis­de­meanor of crim­i­nal mis­chief.

The two men al­legedly broke into a locked room and stole about $100 in rolled coins, po­lice said.

Schultz was ar­raigned in Ellenville Vil­lage Court and re­leased on his own re­cog­ni­zance.
