Mu­seum hosts hol­i­day soap-mak­ing work­shop

WHAT: Hol­i­day soap-mak­ing work­shop WHEN: Nov. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Hud­son High­lands Na­ture Mu­seum’s Out­door Dis­cov­ery Cen­ter, Muser Drive, Corn­wall-on-Hud­son

DE­TAILS: The mu­seum will host a hol­i­day soap-mak­ing work­shop. Join en­vi­ron­men­tal ed­u­ca­tor and soap maker Megan Hoff­man to learn how to make nat­u­ral cold pro­cessed soap in this hands-on work­shop. Learn the history of soap mak­ing, the proper use of safety equip­ment and the prop­er­ties of essen­tial oils, nat­u­ral ad­di­tives, mold­ing and cur­ing. Par­tic­i­pants will cre­ate a batch of hol­i­day scented soap that will be ready for gift giv­ing dur­ing the hol­i­day sea­son and will be mailed fin­ished bars of soap once the 24 hour hard­en­ing process is com­plete. This soap-mak­ing pro­gram re­quires pre­paid reg­is­tra­tion and is for adults and in­ter­ested teens ages 15 and up. Ad­mis­sion is $75, $60 for mu­seum mem­bers.
