Trans­gen­der ath­lete to speak at Vas­sar

Chris Mosier, who in 2015 be­came the first openly trans­gen­der man to be­come a mem­bers of a men’s U.S. na­tional sports team, will speak at Vas­sar Col­lege on Mon­day.

Mosier will de­liver a talk called “Break­ing Bar­ri­ers: Trans In­clu­sion in Sports” be­gin­ning at 5:30 p.m. in the Vil­lard Room of the col­lege’s Main Build­ing. The event is free and open to the pub­lic.

Mosier was in­stru­men­tal in get­ting the In­ter­na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tee pol­icy on trans­gen­der ath­letes changed and, in June 2016, he be­came the first trans­gen­der ath­lete to com­pete in a world cham­pi­onship race un­der the new rules, where he was the sec­ond fastest Amer­i­can man in his group.

An ath­lete, coach and ed­u­ca­tor, Mosier also is the founder of Tran­sAth­lete.com. He is a two-time mem­ber of Team USA, rep­re­sent­ing the United States in the short- and long-course duathlon.
