Transgender athlete to speak at Vassar
Chris Mosier, who in 2015 became the first openly transgender man to become a members of a men’s U.S. national sports team, will speak at Vassar College on Monday.
Mosier will deliver a talk called “Breaking Barriers: Trans Inclusion in Sports” beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Villard Room of the college’s Main Building. The event is free and open to the public.
Mosier was instrumental in getting the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes changed and, in June 2016, he became the first transgender athlete to compete in a world championship race under the new rules, where he was the second fastest American man in his group.
An athlete, coach and educator, Mosier also is the founder of TransAthlete.com. He is a two-time member of Team USA, representing the United States in the short- and long-course duathlon.
