Minister to speak about funerals, burials
The Rev. JoAnna Scari, an interfaith minister, will speak on “The Shifting Climate of Funeral and Burial Options” next Thursday at the Kingston Library, 55 Franklin St..
The lecture will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Scari, who has a degree in mortuary science and funeral service, will review the evolution of the death-care industry in the United States.
Her talk will cover cultural standards in funeral and burial practices and the current trends in alternative funeral services.
Scari is a certified death midwife, home funeral guide, funeral celebrant and member of the Circle of Friends for the Dying. She will reserve part of the time for questions.
The talk is part of the Settled and Serving in Place organization’s general meeting.
The group’s mission is to lend support to members and enable them to live independently through social interaction and advocacy.
