Min­is­ter to speak about fu­ner­als, buri­als

The Rev. JoAnna Scari, an in­ter­faith min­is­ter, will speak on “The Shift­ing Cli­mate of Fu­neral and Burial Op­tions” next Thurs­day at the Kingston Li­brary, 55 Franklin St..

The lec­ture will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Scari, who has a de­gree in mor­tu­ary sci­ence and fu­neral ser­vice, will re­view the evo­lu­tion of the death-care in­dus­try in the United States.

Her talk will cover cul­tural stan­dards in fu­neral and burial prac­tices and the cur­rent trends in al­ter­na­tive fu­neral ser­vices.

Scari is a cer­ti­fied death mid­wife, home fu­neral guide, fu­neral cel­e­brant and mem­ber of the Cir­cle of Friends for the Dy­ing. She will re­serve part of the time for ques­tions.

The talk is part of the Set­tled and Serv­ing in Place or­ga­ni­za­tion’s gen­eral meet­ing.

The group’s mis­sion is to lend sup­port to mem­bers and en­able them to live in­de­pen­dently through so­cial in­ter­ac­tion and ad­vo­cacy.
