The Brooklyn Brewery Corp. plans to construct a brewery at the Stewart Airport Industrial Park off Route 17K.

TOWN OF NEWBURGH >> The Brooklyn Brewery Corp. plans to construct a 250,000-square-foot brewery at the Stewart Airport Industrial Park off Route 17K.

Under provisions of the proposed 60-year lease, which has yet to be approved by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the company would assume control over 823,000 square feet of property.

The company would pay approximately $30.1 million in ground rental for the site. The brewery could be expanded to 350,000 square feet.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said the facility would provide a major shot in the arm for the regional economy.

“This would be manufacturing. It would have tourism.

It would have a restaurant component to it. Everybody is excited to work with them: the town of Newburgh, our economic development partners in the state,” he said.

This would be the first significant lease of property at the airport industrial park since the Port Authority took over the airport in November 2007.
