Woman, 66, injured in rollover accident
Police say she was distracted by a vase of flowers spilling in the vehicle she was driving on East Strand.
A 66-year-old town of Ulster woman was injured in a one-car rollover accident near the Rondout Creek waterfront, city police said Tuesday.
Olga Perez, 66, of the Ulster Gardens apartments, was westbound on East Strand, near Broadway, in a Honda Accord about 4:55 p.m. Monday when she became distracted by a vase of flowers spilling in her vehicle, swerved to the right and struck a parking meter and a tree, causing the car to flip and land on its roof, said police Sgt. Richard Negron. The car came to rest in a municipal parking area at the edge of the road.
Perez, who was alone in the car, was taken to the Health Alliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus with injuries that were not life-threatening, Negron said.
Emergency responders work at the scene of Monday’s rollover car accident in Downtown Kingston.
