Robert J. Avery, 72, of Kingston
Robert J. Avery, 72, of West O’Reilly Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born Aug. 10, 1944, in Kingston, he was a son of the late Mitchell and Leona Avery.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era. He was employed as an independent truck driver.
Surviving are his children, Doreen Avery of Conway, S.C., Pamela Hill of Tampa, Fla., Robert Avery Jr. of Monroe, Lori Gundberg of Accord, Joseph Avery (Jasmine Mannello) of Kingston and Jodi Brooks of Kerhonkson; and his brothers and sisters, Rose Rider, Gill Avery, James Avery, Shirley Lyons, Larry Avery and Virginia Gray.
His wife, Carolyn Dart; brothers, William “Billie” Avery and Myron Avery; and sisters, Annabelle Salmi and Florence Lennon, all died previously.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, Bernard C. Gray, funeral celebrant, officiating. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
