Liberals must accept America’s new era

Daily Freeman (Kingston, NY) - - OPINION -

Dear Editor: We have just witnessed the repudiation of the direction our country was going, along with its liberal-left policies of the present administration.

The left-biased media were shocked; college students and their liberal-left professors were stunned; politicians were stunned and are asking why?

The hard-working American people, who love this country, respect the Constitution and its laws; who work, pay taxes, support all welfare recipients, raise their children to know right from wrong and believe God is still sovereign in the affairs of all nations, went to the polls and voted for a new direction.

Special interests, with their large sums of money, have been repudiated; the establishment of both parties has been defeated; and the liberal-left policies of Obama have been defeated.

We are now witnessing the anarchists of the left, some paid for and supported by George Soros, causing trouble in the large Democrat-run cities, under the guise of “protest.” America allows protesting, unlike leftist countries like North Korea and Cuba, but not anarchy, the destruction of property and the harm of our citizens.

College and high school students who have been brainwashed by their liberal-left professors and teachers are crying, demonstrating and unable to go to school and college because they can’t face reality. I don’t remember one conservative student protesting and committing anarchy and unable to go to school without counseling when the liberal-left took over eight years ago. No, they were not anarchists; they love their country and its people no matter which party is in control. They love this country and our exceptionalism.

I believe conservative policies will enable America to grow and prosper once again as we did under President Reagan. Everybody should take a deep breath and pray for America and our new leaders that they may be successful. We need this new direction. Tthe last eight years have been a disaster, and the hard-working, law-abiding American people have said, “Enough! We want a new direction! We want America to be great again for all of our citizens!” James T. Varelas, Navy veteran East Jewett
