Abolish Electoral College
Dear Editor: I would like to make an appeal to President-elect Trump: Please fix the Electoral College.
In 40 percent of the presidential elections held this century, I voted for the candidate that received the most votes, but lost. Both in 2000 and 2016, the candidate getting more electoral support than anyone else in the race was not declared president.
While I do not support riots or violence, I understand the frustration.
The Electoral College was founded to help everyone (not just those in the highly populated areas that were close enough to the polling sites) have their voices heard and votes counted. We have had the technology for some time to have direct presidential elections. We should make that the way that everyone’s vote can be counted.
